Grasple has multiple check methods using the Computer Algebra System (CAS) which can be used within the editor to indicate when the answer of a student should be marked correct/incorrect. A full list of current options can be found in this article.

This article covers the Is Unit Expression With Exact Value check. There are two sections in this article:

  1. When to use the Is Unit Expression With Exact Value check?

  2. How does the Is Unit Expression With Exact Value check work?

When to use the Is Unit Expression With Exact Value check?

If you want to check whether a given Unit Expression has a value which is exactly the same as a given value, this is the check to use. The input on the right-hand side of this check can be a:

  • unit expression (such as 4 N)

  • a mathematical expression (such as 2 * 2)

In the first situation this check will extract the value from the unit expression (in this case 4) and use this in the comparison.

How does the Is Unit Expression With Exact Value check work?

The check will extract the value from the right-hand side of the rule and the value on the left-hand side of the rule. These two values are then compared using the Exact Form check.
