A student comes to you with the remark that a given answer to a question in one of your tests should have been marked correct instead of incorrect OR asks for partial points. As a teacher, you can change the marking and received points of the student's answers in the tests which you've published in your course.
This article explains the steps and the consequences of changing a mark and/or points.

NOTE: This functionality is only available in Manual Tests.

Summary

You can change the marking of an answer or received points taking these steps:

  1. Open the test overview

  2. Locate the student in the list of student results

  3. Go to the result of the specific student

  4. Locate the question (and subquestion) in the result

  5. (optional) Adjust the mark from incorrect to correct

  6. (optional) Adjust the points a student receives for that answer

  7. Submit and confirm the change

  8. The mark and overall score are updated!

Below you can see each step in more detail.

Steps

1. Open the test overview

You can open the test overview screen by going to "Tests" and clicking "View Results" for the test you want to make adjustments for. You will see the aggregated tests results like for the example below.

2. Locate the student in the list of student results

Make sure you have enabled both "Show individual students" and "Show Student Names" to find the student in the list.
Once you find the student, click the "Show Result" button.

3. Go to the result of the specific student

This brings you to the test result of that specific student. From this screen you can go back to the overview via the button "Course Test Results" or to the specific answer+questions for this test attempt via "See how you answered each question".

4. Locate the question (and subquestion) in the result

Go the the specific question via the arrows on the left and right hand side of the menu or via the circles in the white top bar. These circles indicate each question in the test and the color the mark.

5. Adjust the mark from incorrect to correct

Click the button "adjust marking" to start the mark adjustment.

You will see a new menu with the option to change the marking. Click the current marking (e.g. "Incorrect" in this example).

This will show a dropdown menu where you have two options: correct or incorrect. Click the mark you want to assign to this answer.

6. Adjust the points a student receives for that answer

Changing the label of correctness (e.g. from incorrect to correct) will automatically adjust the points to zero or maximum points if the score has not been adjusted before. You can manually adjust the number of points a student receives independent of the label correct/incorrect.

To do this, change the number in the input field below the correctness label, as shown below.

As you can see, when adjusting points to partial points you will be informed that from now on you are manually adjusting the points. If you change the label of correctness after adjusting the points manually, the points will not be automatically adjusted alongside them anymore.

7. Submit and confirm the change

Once you changed the marking, you can submit the change by clicking on the "Submit" button.

IMPORTANT: You have to submit each change individually, otherwise they won't be processed.

You will get a confirmation popup with the changes you are about to make. If you want to proces the adjustment(s), click "Adjust marking".

The mark and points have now been adjusted and the overall score has been updated.

7. The mark and overall score are updated!

You can see that the mark has been adjusted by the color change and the feedback change.

In addition the overall score is updated based on the points of the question for which the marking has been adjusted.
