There are four ways to add students to your course:
In the remainder of this article we explain each of these methods in detail. In addition, we list some Frequently Asked Questions on adding students.
1. Publish a link that grants access
The easiest way to add students to your course is by publishing a link that automatically grants access to the course. You can e.g. publish this link on your online Learning Management System, or you can email this link to your students.
When the students follow this link, they will be asked to login or create an account. After logging in, the student automatically registers for your course. This means that they will be able to see the course in their overview.
Remember, everyone with access to the link has access to your course.
Note: only teachers and admins can create a registration link
Steps to create a registration link
Steps to create a registration link
Open your course in Grasple
Open the 'Monitor' tab
Click on the button 'Edit course Link'
Select 'Create Course Link' to create the registration link
The following screen allows you to copy the registration link
As you can see from the screenshot above you can de-activate an active course link, or activate an inactive course link after creation. With this functionality you can, for example, close or open the enrolment of students in a course.
2. Invite one student manually
If you want to add a small number of students to your course, you can choose to invite them manually one by one. This personal invitation will be send to their email, which allows them to register for your course.
If your organisation supports the use of the organisation identifier, you can also register students to your course without sending an email invitation. This is especially useful in an exam setting. Read more about the organisation identifier here.

*The Student ID only needs to be given if your organisation allows for processing Student IDs within Grasple. Reach out to us for questions about this.
Note: if you are unable to sent an invite because it has already been used, but you want to force a new invite anyway, read the following article on how to do this: How do I force a new student invite if the previous one is used?
3. Import a CSV to invite multiple students at the same time
You can also invite multiple students at the same time by uploading a CSV file. The students will receive a personal invitation per email, which allows them to register for your course.
If your organisation supports the use of the organisation identifier, you can also register students to your course without sending an email invitation. This is especially useful in an exam setting. Read more about the organisation identifier here.

4. Integrate your Grasple course in your LMS
When you integrate your Grasple course in your LMS (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas, Brigthspace, Moodle), students can automatically access your course via your course page in the LMS. Aside from automatic registration, this integration also allows for other benefits such as a synchronization between Grasple and the gradebook of your LMS.
More information on how to link your Grasple course to your specific LMS, can be found in the articles in this collection.

What do I do when I get an error after uploading a CSV file?
What do I do when I get an error after uploading a CSV file?
It is possible that there are mistakes in your CSV file. Make sure you do not include headers in the file. If you get an error message saying: "there are rows with too few columns (less than 2)" , check for every row if name and email are filled in correctly and no field is left blank. Sometimes there's an unnoticed white space at the end of the file that causes the error.
After correcting the CSV file, upload it again.
Does my organisation support the use of the organisation identifier?
Does my organisation support the use of the organisation identifier?
To be able to automatically register students manually or by CSV, you can use the organisation identifier. If you are unsure whether your organisation supports the use of this ID, please reach out to us via the chat or via support@grasple.com!
What to do when a student registers themselves with the wrong account?
What to do when a student registers themselves with the wrong account?
It happens sometimes that a student logs in with the wrong institution account via Single Sign-On while connecting to a course (for example if they have accounts from multiple universities). In this case, they should inform their teacher who should remove them from the course and send a new invitation link. The student needs to make sure they are logged in with the right account before accepting the invitation.

Note: We currently only support SSO via SURFConext (only available in The Netherlands). We are actively exploring solutions for our international users.
