For most actions of students the platform offers detailed Learning Analytics in various ways. However, there is not always time to look into all detailed metrics. To make it easier to get a broad overview of the state of your course the dashboard of your course now offers an insights tab! This new page tries to answer specific questions you might have about the status of your course:

For example: What is the progress for my students in the course?

More details about this new tab can be found in this help article.

You can now search on exercise name (and exact ID) in the repository exercises page. This allows you to quickly filter the list of exercises.

This is especially useful for anyone who uses the exercise name to organise their materials and/or as tagging method.

If you have any ideas on how the feature can be improved or extended, please reach out to us.

While it was already possible to create a course based on a ready to use (Community) course, it was not easy to review this type of course before copying. To make this possible we have now made all Ready to use Community courses available in the list of your courses:

This allows you to browse the content of each of these courses, as well as easily create a new course based on one of the these courses with the buttons on the right.

More information about these Ready to Use Community courses and how to use them can be found in this help article.

Instead of configuring a grade on a test-by-test basis it is now possible to automatically create grades for all (current and future) tests in a course. This feature is optional and can be enabled by the teacher with a single button click per course:

Read more about this option in this help article.

It is now possible to share courses within your organisation! This is a great way to share and showcase material created by your organisation. In addition, it is a nice starting point for new users within your organisation.

When a course is made an organisation course, all teachers within an organisation get a new list in their course list:

and can immediately view the content, or start their own course based on the existing course.

Read more about this feature in this help article and see what the benefits could be for your organisation in this Grasple Academy article.

You can now show the description of the course to your students/fellow teachers on the course overview page. This is especially interesting for organization courses since it allows you to inform your fellow teachers about how the organization course is structured or what didactic approach is used within that course.

For example:

You can also use this to ensure students can view/read the description of the course. If this becomes too intrusive (which we can imagine), you can leave the setting disabled. In that case, only a button will be shown which opens a popup with the description.

NOTE: by default, the button is shown and only if there is a description available for the course. This update does not automatically enable the "preview" of the course description.

You can now have multiple answer fields per question in an exercises. This allows you to ask students to provide multiple answers (e.g. the value of two unknowns in an equation) and check them all at once. You can use this both in subjects and tests and can be combined with all other types of features: parameters, specific feedback, decision trees, etc.

We are happy to announce that we added another round of improvements to the graphing interface. It is now possible to improve the accessibility of your content by adding a title or an alternative text to a chart. In addition, you can now choose the aspect ratio for the axis of the graph, allowing you to easily graph circles using parametric lines:

For more information about the currently available configuration options check out this section of the help article on parameterised graphs.

We have built additional options on top of the extension to add different types of items to your (parameterised) graphs. As of now, it is possible to style your lines and points with improved coloring and different types of styles!

In addition, you gain more control over how the lines on the axis are displayed. For more information about the currently available configuration options check out this section of the help article on parameterised graphs.

Grasple allows a deep integration to your LMS with LTI 1.3 Advantage, including the Grade & Assignment Services. Via the LTI integration, we sync grades to your LMS if you set up an LTI link to the tests within your Grasple course.

Until now, grades were only synced after the grade integration was setup. This resulted in a problem for teachers since it required setting up of all the LTI links at the start of the course for grade syncing to work easily without too much hassle. Good news: we have now fixed this!

We now automatically sync any grades retro-actively as soon as we see that an LTI Link to a Grasple test has an LMS grade-item associated with it. This means that, as soon as you add the grade-item to your LTI link, all previous and future grades will be synced automatically.

Parameter conditions can be used to ensure that values generated for a parameter are within a certain range, and adhere to certain conditions. Up until now it was only possible to apply such conditions to a single numeric value. To allow for better expressions and easier filtering, we added support to filter lists and matrices in the conditions of parameters:

The condition for the list parameter means: make sure all numbers in the given list are smaller than or equal to 2. Similar conditions can now be applied to matrices as well.

If you want to know more about what you can do with parameters and the options for conditions please check out this help article.

It has long been possible to create line graphs based on parameters to enhance your questions in exercises. To make it possible to create even richer content, we have extended the list of what is possible to plot inside a (parametrized) graph. You can now:

  • plot a point in a graph

  • plot a parameterized function in a graph

  • create a line based on discrete data (as opposed to a function)

In addition, it is now possible to hide certain items from the legend. All of this is now possible through the newly introduced configuration model for graphs:

More information about the possibilities of these graphs, including an example of how to create them can be found in this help article.

We have concluded the project that started in the summer of 2024 to make sure the platform is WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliant for students. This project was concluded after the final student pages were checked and updated accordingly to ensure each student page is compliant.

But we're not done yet; we believe that every website should continuously improve, and this also holds for accessibility. Therefore, we are now gathering feedback. If you (or your university) are interested in testing and providing feedback, please reach out to us since we are happy to receive feedback on different users' experiences with the Usability of the platform.

This document contains updates we made to make the sure the platform is WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliant for students. The approaches/updates listed are also translated into (internal) best practices to be applied for any new features/updates on the platform together with (automated) tests to prevent regression of accessibility.

Some multiple choice question have multiple correct alternatives and thus may require more than one answer to be selected. As of now, this type of behaviour is supported in the platform via the Multi-Answer Multiple choice type! This new feature allows you to create questions such as this one:

More information on how to create such questions and all available options can be found in this help article.

The data export feature in Grasple allows you to extract a detailed overview of what is happening in your course(s). With these exports, you can build custom reports, perform a detailed content analysis, or spot areas where students are struggling. To make it easier for you to filter these data-sets on sub-groups, we have added the course group name to each data export which contains per-student information.

Read more about the available data exports in this help article.
