Instead of configuring a grade item on a test-by-test basis it is also possible to automatically create grade items for all (current and future) tests in a course. This feature is optional and can be enabled by the teacher with a single button click per course.
You can also also customize the Maximum Points used in your LMS Grade Items when enabling the automatic creation of grade items. This allows you to tailor the grade items to your specific course needs.
This feature is currently enabled per organisation. If you do not see the setting in your account please reach out to support for more information about the availability.
IMPORTANT: You can only set the "Maximum Points" once, when enabling this feature for the first time. If you made a mistake when doing this, please do reach out to support.
Enabling Automatic Grade Creation
When the teacher enables this option in a course the platform:
Creates Grade Items in the associated LMS Course for all current and future tests in the Grasple course. The name of the grade item will be the same name as the name of the test
Syncs any past and future grades of the Grasple test to the automatically created Grade Items in the LMS
After the initial creation you can change the name of the Grade Item if desired.
To enable this feature, go to the LMS settings page in a course:
And press the button to 'Enable Automatic Grade Creation' button:
Disabling Automatic Grade Creation
When it is no longer required to create new Grade Items you can also disable the option again per course. When disabled the platform:
No longer creates new Grade Items in the associated LMS Course
Still syncs future grades for tests in the Grasple course for which a Grade Item exists
Note: the platform will not remove any Grade Items it has created.
To disable the feature simply press the 'Disable Automatic Grade Creation' button in the LMS settings page:
Combining Manually Created Grade Items with Automatic Grade Creation
When you have already manually created Grade Items yourself for Grasple LTI Links that is not a problem. When enabling the "Automatic Grade Creation" we check all the manual links you have created before in our system and only create new Grade Items for any items not having Grade Items in your LMS, or for which the previously created Grade Item is deleted.
You can also choose to remove your manually created Grade Items in your LMS and use this new functionality. It will sync any existing test results to your LMS after the grade has been created.
