For Admins: Moodle LTI Advantage (1.3) Installation

This article describes how you can configure the LTI Advantage (1.3) installation between Grasple and Moodle.

To set up Grasple as a tool in Moodle, take the following steps:

  1. Get in touch with Grasple

  2. Deploy Grasple within Moodle

  3. Share Moodle tool information with Grasple

  4. Verify the correct installation of Grasple as a tool in Moodle

1. Get in touch with us

Before taking any next steps, get in touch with us through support@grasple.com to ensure we can support you through this process!

We will provide you with the correct configuration details.

2. Deploy Grasple within Moodle

  • Login to your Moodle environment and open Site Administration.

  • Open the 'Plugins' tab and click on 'External tool'

  • Select 'Manage tools' and 'Configure a tool manually'

  • Fill in the following fields with the information we'll provide

    • Name

    • Tool URL

    • LTI version

    • Public key type

    • Public keyset

    • Initiate login URL

    • Redirection URI(s)

    • Tool configuration usage

    • Content-Item Message

    • Content Selection URL

    • Icon URL

  • Click 'Save changes'

  • Configure these settings as follows:

    • Under 'Privacy'

      • Share launcher's name with tool: Always

      • Share launcher's email with tool: Always

  • Optional: To make use of the Gradebook integration, configure these settings as follows:

    • Under 'Services'

      • IMS LTI Assignment and Grade Services: Use this service for grade sync and column management

    • Under 'Privacy'

      • Accept grades from the tool: Always

3. Share Moodle tool information with Grasple

  • Click on 'View configuration details' next to the settings icon on the new tool

  • Email the following information to your contact at Grasple:

    • Platform ID

    • Client ID

    • Deployment ID

    • Public keyset URL

    • Access token URL

    • Autentication request URL

  • We will be in touch with you to set a date for deployment and will confirm once the LTI1.3 integration is live.

4. Verify the correct installation of Grasple as a tool in Moodle

To verify the correct installation of Grasple in Moodle, take the following steps:

  • Go to a course where Grasple Deep Linking is enabled

  • Add an activity to your course

  • Select 'Grasple' in as an external tool

  • Open the 'select content' menu in Moodle

  • Select which Grasple course to link

  • Select a module from the course and link it

  • Check that content is properly linked

Common errors

  • If you're seeing the following (or similar) error message, check to make sure there are no spaces after any of the URLs in your configuration
