When students log into Grasple via SURFconext, they don't always have a direct link to their LMS account. Without this link, grades from Grasple can't sync to the LMS gradebook.
With automatic LMS linking, Grasple creates this connection automatically. When a SURFconext student joins a course, the system looks up the student in the LMS course roster and matches their identity. Once the link is established, the student's grades automatically appear in the LMS gradebook.
How do I enable this?
This feature is activated per institution by the Grasple team. Please contact us via the chat icon in the lower right corner of your screen. This also requires the LTI+SSO Configuration to be enabled for your organisation in Grasple.
On your side you need to enable the Names and Roles Provisioning Service in the LTI 1.3 integration.
Do students or teachers need to do anything?
No. The linking happens automatically in the background when a student joins a course.
What about grades completed before the link was created?
Previously completed grades are synced automatically once the link is established.
Does this work with every LMS?
The feature works with LMS platforms that share student identifiers in their course roster. The Grasple team verifies compatibility when activating it for your organisation.
