For Admins: Blackboard LTI Advantage (1.3) Installation

This article describes how you can configure the LTI Advantage (1.3) installation between Grasple and Blackboard.

To set up Grasple as a tool in Blackboard, take the following steps:

Information per step

1. Get in touch with us

Before taking any next steps, get in touch with us through support@grasple.com to ensure we can support you through this process!

We will provide you with:

  • ClientID

  • Tool Provider URL

2. Deploy Grasple within your Blackboard site

  • Login to your Blackboard environment and open your Administrator Panel.

  • Select 'LTI Tool Providers'

  • Click 'Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool' and fill in the Client ID we provided you.

  • You will be directed to the “Accept LTI 1.3 Tool” page.

  • Important! Make note of the Deployment ID as you’ll be needing that.

  • Find Grasple in the “LTI Tool Providers” list and select “Manage Placements” from the drop down menu next to it.

    • Click 'Create Placement'

    • Fill in the following:

      • Label: Grasple

      • Handle: Grasple

      • Type: Deep Linking content tool

        • Enable 'Allow student access'

      • Tool Provider URL: the URL we provided in step 1

3. Share Blackboard tool information with Grasple

  • Email the following information to your contact at Grasple:

    • Deployment ID

  • We will be in touch with you to set a date for deployment and will confirm once the LTI1.3 integration is live.

4. Verify the correct installation of Grasple as a tool in Blackboard

To verify the correct installation of Grasple as Remote Plugin in Blackboard, take the following steps:

  • Go to a course where Grasple Deep Linking is enabled

  • Select 'Content' in the left menu

  • Select 'Build Content' in the top menu

  • Select 'Grasple' in the dropdown menu

  • Accept the privacy question pop-up

  • Select module to be linked

  • Check that content is properly linked
